Dhul Kiflعليه السلام- Righteousness & Fame

Bismillah,

The pursuit of fame negates righteousness.

The pursuit of righteousness negates fame.

They are like oil and water, they don’t mix.

Today, we explore the inspiring story of Dhul-Kifl (AS), a lesser-known prophet mentioned in the Quran, whose righteousness is established By Allah (SWT).

Background

Dhul-Kifl (AS) is believed to be a prophet mentioned in the Quran, although his identity and historical context remain subject to interpretation.

He (AS) is often associated with Prophet Ezekiel in Judeo-Christian traditions.

Despite the limited details about his life, Dhul-Kifl (AS) serves as a symbol of steadfast devotion and righteousness.

Righteousness & Fame

Prophet Dhul-Kifl (AS) upheld the principles of monotheism and moral righteousness, calling his people to worship Allah alone and uphold ethical values.

Till this day, there still remains disputes over the identity of Dhul-Kifl (AS).

Whether he was a Prophet or just a Saint.

What matters is that he was a righteous man, not that he had a status.

It is through Allah’s (SWT) wisdom to not mention his life thoroughly in the Qur’an, exemplifying the inessentiality of fame in relation to righteousness.

Application Today

Although details about Prophet Dhul-Kifl (AS) are limited, his life offers valuable lessons for contemporary society.

Dhul-Kifl was one of the righteous people mentioned in the Qur’an, yet we have no primary sources of information about his life.

Dhul-Kifl was righteous only for Allah’s (SWT).

Not for others or to gain a worldly status.

When doing good things we must rectify our intentions to solely please Allah (SWT), not for fame or power.

Allah (SWT) knows our intentions!

May we emulate Dhul-Kifl (AS) virtues in our own lives, striving to rectify our intentions and uphold righteousness for only Allah (SWT).

Ameen!

وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَإِدْرِيسَ وَذَا ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ كُلٌّۭ مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ ٨٥

And ˹remember˺ Ishmael, Enoch, and Dhul-Kifl. They were all steadfast.
