The oldest of the Ulul ‘Azm Prophets is Nuh (AS).
The “Ulul Azm” prophets, also known as the “Prophets of Resolve,” are five extraordinary (Arch) prophets in Islam who are revered for their unwavering determination and steadfastness in delivering the message of Allah (SWT) despite facing immense challenges and adversity.
The long life of Nuh (AS) was filled with adversity from his people for 950 years. Despite the odds against him, Nuh (AS) prevailed in his Dawah with the help of Allah (SWT).
Dawah (Call to Monotheism)
Prophet Nuh (AS) was sent by Allah as a messenger to his people, who had deviated from the path of monotheism and were immersed in idol worship and sin.
Despite facing rejection and mockery, Prophet Nuh (AS) persisted in his mission, tirelessly calling his people to worship only Allah(SWT) for 950 years and to repent for their transgressions.
The Ark & Great Flood
As his people continued to reject his message, Prophet Nuh (AS) received divine revelation about a great flood that would engulf the earth as a punishment for their disbelief and disobedience.
Following Allah’s command, Prophet Nuh (AS) built an ark to save himself, his family, and those who believed in his message from the impending disaster.
In the Quran, it mentions Nuh’s (AS) son who did not believe in him and perished in the flood.
He refused to believe in the message of his father and chose not to board the ark, ultimately facing the consequences of his disbelief along with the other disbelievers.
When the floodwaters came, they destroyed everything except for those aboard the ark, as Allah (SWT) had decreed.
Success and Offspring
After the floodwaters receded and the earth was once again habitable, Prophet Nuh (AS) and his followers emerged from the ark, marking the end of the trial.
Allah blessed Prophet Nuh (AS) with success and offspring, ensuring the continuation of his righteous lineage.
Through his perseverance and unwavering faith, Prophet Nuh (AS) achieved success in fulfilling his mission and leaving a legacy of monotheism for future generations to follow.
Lesson to Learn
If we can take 1 lesson from the life of Nuh (AS) it should be patience.
Nuh (AS) was persistent and determined in giving dawah to his people for 950 years.
That’s 10 lifetimes!
Despite the mockery and disdain of his people. Despite the adversities and rejection, Nuh (AS) did not give up.
Patience and faith were the key components in the pursuit of Nuh (AS) goal.
Implementing Patience can be hard, but it is necessary in achieving anything great.
Through patience and prayer Allah(SWT) help is near!.
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ
O you who believe! Seek help in patience and As-Salāt (the prayer).
Truly! Allah is with As-Sābirīn (the patient ones, etc.).
[Surah al-Baqarah 2:153]
