Ishaq عليه السلام- Divine Promise

Bismillah,

Have you ever been disappointed?

By someone’s promise perhaps?

Human’s are prone to err.

Whilst Allah’s (SWT) Promise is Truth!

Today, we delve into the life and legacy of Prophet Ishaq (AS), a revered prophet in Islamic tradition known for embodying the virtues of promise and patience.

Background:

Prophet Ishaq (AS) was the son of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Sarah (RA), born as a fulfillment of Allah’s promise to bless Ibrahim (AS) with progeny.

Ishaq’s (AS) birth was a divine miracle as Sarah (RA) was an old women.

Ismail (AS) is the older half-brother of Isaac (AS).

Ishaq (AS) grew up in the household of faith, witnessing his father’s unwavering devotion to Allah (SWT) and commitment to divine guidance.

Prophethood:

Ishaq (AS) was chosen by Allah as a messenger to his people, preaching monotheism and righteousness.

He upheld the legacy of his father Ibrahim (AS), emphasising the importance of faith, integrity, and obedience to Allah’s (SWT) commandments.

Despite the challenges he faced, Ishaq (AS) remained steadfast in delivering the message of Islam.

Legacy:

Prophet Ishaq’s (AS) legacy is characterised by the fulfillment of divine promise and the continuation of prophetic lineage.

He (AS) played a pivotal role in the transmission of monotheistic teachings to subsequent generations, upholding the principles of faith and righteousness.

The 12 tribes of Israel descended from Yaqub (AS), son of Ishaq (AS).

Muslims, Christians, and Jews believe in his Prophethood.

That’s 4 billion people today, over half the world’s population.

Application Today:

Allah’s (SWT) promise will never disappoint us, whilst humans are prone to fail us, despite their intentions.

Allah (SWT) promised Ibrahim (AS) offspring and gave him Ismail (AS) and Isaac (AS), Fathers of Nations (Jews and Arabs).

Allah (SWT) promises us a good life in this world and the next if we obey his commands.

If we fulfil this command, we will not be disappointed.

Let’s change our perspective to only rely on others as a potential means.

Whilst we rely on Allah (SWT) as a guarantee.


وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ قَآئِمَةٌۭ فَضَحِكَتْ فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهَا بِإِسْحَـٰقَ وَمِن وَرَآءِ إِسْحَـٰقَ يَعْقُوبَ

And his wife was standing by, so she laughed,then We gave her good news of ˹the birth of˺ Isaac, and, after him, Jacob.
