Gratitude makes us happier and healthier.
We should be grateful for things like sight, hearing, and Islam.
Allah (SWT) has blessed us all with countless blessings.
But we are ungrateful and impatient.
Alhamdulilah for everything!
Today, we explore the remarkable life and enduring faith of Prophet Ayyub (AS), whose story serves as a timeless testament to gratitude and unwavering patience.
Background
Prophet Ayyub (AS), known as Job in the Judeo-Christian tradition, was a righteous servant of Allah (SWT).
He (AS) was blessed with immense wealth, health, and a large family (14 children).
However, Allah tested Ayyub (AS) with severe trials to demonstrate the strength of his patience and gratitude.
Trials and Patience
Prophet Ayyub (AS) endured unimaginable suffering, losing his health, wealth, and family.
Ayyub (AS) suffered for 7 years.
Despite these hardships, he remained patient and steadfast in his belief in Allah’s (SWT) wisdom and mercy.
Ayyub (AS) continued to praise and supplicate to Allah (SWT), seeking solace and healing.
Legacy & Divine Mercy
As a testament to Ayyub’s (AS) unwavering faith, Allah eventually restored his health, wealth, and family.
Allah (SWT) doubled Ayyub’s (AS) blessings; granting him 24 children (see verse below)
This miraculous restoration serves as a profound example of divine mercy and the reward of steadfast devotion.
Application Today
Ayyub’s (AS) story underscores the importance of gratitude and patience with Allah’s (SWT) decree.
We must be grateful for the countless blessings Allah (SWT) has granted us.
Know matter how out of “luck” you feel, there’s thousands of blessing all of us have been provided, just a matter of changing perspectives.
The cup is always half full.
As the old adage goes- Privilege is invisible to those who have it.
Once “Your” health, wealth, offspring, power etc is taken, how will you react?
I say “Your” loosely as everything we’re given is granted to us by Allah (SWT), for a prescribed time.
Will you be grateful and patient like Ayyub (AS), or impatient and ungrateful like Satan?
May we emulate Ayyub’s (AS) virtues of patience and gratitude in our own lives, seeking closeness to Allah (SWT) and striving to uphold righteousness.

وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةًۭ مِّنَّا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِAnd We gave him back his family, twice as many, as a mercy from Us and a lesson for people of reason.
