Bismillah,
Forgiving others can be hard.
Especially when the person(s) does not admit to their faults.
But we should forgive others to be rewarded by Allah (SWT).
Not to claim the moral higher ground.
Today, we embark on a profound exploration of the life and legacy of Prophet Yusuf (AS), a figure of remarkable faith, resilience, and forgiveness.
Background:
Prophet Yusuf (AS) was the son of Prophet Yaqub (AS) and the grandson of Prophet Ishaq (AS).
Yusuf (AS) life was marked by trials and tribulations, beginning with betrayal and adversity within his own family.
Despite these challenges, Yusuf (AS) remained steadfast in his devotion to Allah (SWT) and maintained unwavering faith.
Faith
Yusuf (AS) faced numerous hardships, including being sold into slavery because of his brothers and unjustly imprisoned due to the King’s wife.
Throughout these trials, He(AS) demonstrated exemplary patience and trust in Allah’s(SWT) plan.
Despite the darkness of his circumstances, Yusuf (AS) found solace in prayer and reliance on Allah(SWT).
Forgiveness
One of the most profound aspects of Yusuf’s (AS) story is his capacity for forgiveness.
Despite enduring years of hardship and betrayal, Yusuf (AS) ultimately forgave his brothers and embraced reconciliation.
Yusuf (AS) forgave his brothers and the king’s wife without any grudge despite their wrongdoings.
Legacy
The story of Yusuf(AS) teaches us that we should forgive others, despite their wrongdoings, to attain attain Allah’s (SWT) blessings.
Yusuf (AS) had the power to harm the people who wronged him, but he decided to demonstrate forgiveness and compassion.
His story serves as a timeless example of unwavering faith and the importance of maintaining righteousness in the face of adversity.
Yusuf’s (AS) story demonstrates to us that forgiveness must come from faith in Allah (SWT).
Through faith we can attain patience and compassion for others.
Application Today
No good or harm can touch us without Allah’s (SWT) permission.
Therefore, anything that happens to us is already decreed by Allah (SWT).
We must accept this reality, just like Yusuf (AS), to be at peace with our destiny and forgive others.
In return, Allah (SWT) will elevate our status in this world and the next.
Yusuf’s (AS) went from being a slave to being second in command in Egypt and deciding on the destiny of his brothers food.
Whatever your condition might be, if you accept it and show patience, Allah (SWT) will elevate your ranks in the Dunya and (more importantly) Akhirah.
Yusuf’s (AS) brothers prostrated to him in the end, fulfilling his childhood dream.
Allah (SWT) can perform miracles for us if we just have trust and show patience through forgiving others.
May we emulate Yusuf’s (AS)virtues in our daily lives, seeking closeness to Allah and striving to embody forgiveness, compassion, and righteousness.

قَالُوٓا۟ أَءِنَّكَ لَأَنتَ يُوسُفُ ۖ قَالَ أَنَا۠ يُوسُفُ وَهَـٰذَآ أَخِى ۖ قَدْ مَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَآ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ مَن يَتَّقِ وَيَصْبِرْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
They replied ˹in shock˺, “Are you really Joseph?” He said, “I am Joseph, and here is my brother ˹Benjamin˺! Allah has truly been gracious to us. Surely whoever is mindful ˹of Allah˺ and patient, then certainly Allah never discounts the reward of the good-doers
